Joshua

Sends Spies To Jericho

Holy Caleb De Warrior

Spies Sent Out

Holy Caleb: Then, Joshua called myself, Caleb. We were seven persons that were sent out to go and investigate the city.

Spiritual Preparation

Holy Caleb: Before we set out, ourselves went to a moving stream and took bath, seven times. Once a day for seven days.

The First Thing We Did At Jericho

When we reached the city of Jericho, be we entered the city, we bowed down and worshipped God, with our foreheads touching the ground, for the following reasons:

Number 1, the city was full of the powers of darkness. The people of Jericho were pagans worshipping an idol called Baal. In their own language, Baal means lord.

Number 2, we bowed down to God, so that the defilements and pollutions in that city will not affect us, they were not observing the rites of holiness and they did not know about rites of holiness.

Number 3, the city was worshipping idol, even so greatly.

Number 4, for God to send forth His Angels to come and stay with us, until we completed our stay in that city, in peace and go home safely.

Number 5, ourselves handed over our plans and powers into the hands of God, because we did not know what was going to happen to us in the future. We did not know the beginning or the end of the whole exercise.  These were the reason why we bowed down to God.

On The Night We Entered Jericho

The king of the Jericho did not know that we arrived in the city. Even the guards, security men, did not know. It was only Rahab that knew. What the people of Jericho heard was not that spies entered the city. What they heard was that very important personalities, great men, arrived in the city.

Son of man, when we entered the city, what happened?

Do you know what happened that night?

When we reached the city, their idol prophets knew that we entered the city, but they did know how we entered the city. Because they did not know when and how we entered the city, they inquired in spirit from the idol. They gathered that night and called for celebration. It was by celebration, by eating and drinking, that they worshipped Baal. The eating and drinking was in the form of celebration, including dining and wining. They held the feast that night to find out what happened from their god, Baal.

And their chief priest told them that we came in peace, that we brought good things to the city. And the people of Jericho did not know that it was the Angels of God that forged that message and turned their faces away from us.

Encounter With Rahab

Holy Caleb: Within the city, we set out, not knowing where to go. Therefore, we inquired from God on where to go to. The chief priest sent out guards to come and arrest us. And the Angels sent the harlot, Rahab, to us. She saw us and encouraged us to visit and patronize her, thinking that we were men looking for harlots. But ourselves told her that we were not from Jericho, that we were foreigners, strangers. We asked her if she could give us any help.

Rehab the harlot welcomed us, because God wanted to use her to save us. That was how we met and stayed with her.

Now Joshua the son of Nun sent out seven men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly, saying, "Go, view the land, especially Jericho."

So they went, and came to the house of a harlot named Rahab, and lodged there… Joshua 2:1-7

One special thing that we observed in our encounter with Rahab was that whatever that we told her, she believed it. All the foods that ourselves were eating, she was the one providing all. She was giving us foods free, without any payment form us. The dresses that ourselves were wearing during the stay, she was providing the dresses, until we completed our stay in Jericho.

On Rites Of Holiness

Chukwudi:  How come that you Israelites were able to eat the foods provided by the harlot, since she was not observing the rites of holiness?

Was it because of hunger?

Holy Caleb: Number 1, it was the Angels that sent her to help us.

Number 2, herself was proving the foods which we ate.

Number 3, we knew how to disable what is not holy and make it holy. For example, of something is not holy, when and after you pour the Blood of Jesus on it, it becomes clean and holy.

As at that time, we Israelites had not known about the Blood of Jesus. But there was the power of the Holy Spirit in us, because we are the children of God. Another way to make something holy was to raise it up with your two hands, before God, in prayer, whatever you present before God, you have to raise it up in an honourable and respectful way, with your two hands.

If you want to give something to a president, what would you do?

You hold that thing with your two hands and move as if you were a good person, a saint. But when people come to God’s own, they do it anyhow, without honour and respect. That is why on many occasions, after you have presented something before God, that thing remains as it is, without any transformation and without any power of the Holy Spirit added to it. God would not put the power of the Holy Spirit in the thing, because yourselves have belittled the offering or presentation. That us why God said that before you can get anything form Him, you have to humble yourselves.

Holy Caleb: Son of man, what does humility show?

Chukwudi: It shows obedience.

Holy Caleb: You take that thing and present it before God and God will make it holy, Holy Caleb God is holy. Only God the father is able to make what is defiled holy. In whatever form or condition that thing is, it is from God that all things are made holy. If God does not approve the thing, you have to throw it away, and do not use it at all. Even so ourselves did in Jericho. We ate whatever God approved and rejected whatever that God did not approve.

It was not all the foods that she gave us that we did ate. We usually presented the foods before God in prayer. If God approved, we ate. And if God did not approve it, we did not ate.

Sometimes, when she brought food to us, we told her that we were doing fasting. Though we were hungry, we told her that we were doing fasting. That was n telling lies, because a person who is hungry but rejects food is by so doing fasting.

This is what is telling lie. If she brought the food and God told us to eat, and we say that we are fasting, that is telling lie, because we were not fasting. Bu ourselves would tell her that we did not want to eat, because God told us not to eat and because we were thereby fasting.

Actually the foods that we rejected were the foods that were defiled. The Israelites did not eat defiled foods. Rahab did not know about the rites of holiness which we did observed.

Holy Caleb: Son of man, how do you people fast here in DivineBase Ministry?

Chukwudi: The best fasting is doing the will of God, by abiding in the truth, and by living a righteous and holy life.

Holy Caleb: Son of man, here is the reason why we told her that we were fasting. She was a gentile, a foreigner, she did not understand what we were doing, how we Israelites do things. And she did not know the procedures and rites of holiness which God has given us. To make things easy for her, the best thing to tell her was that we were fasting. If you were to spend time to explain to her, she would not understand, not even at that time of explanation.

How To Do Fasting

Holy Caleb: This is how the ministers of God and children of God shall be fasting.

Number 1, if you go to any place where people do not observe the rites of holiness, and they bring food or ask you to eat food, you say no, and tell them that you are fasting, because the food is defiled. God told the Israelites not to eat elsewhere, because gentiles, the people of other were not observing the rites of holiness.

Number 2, sometimes, you are invited to an unavoidable occasions or funeral, by your family members or relations. It could due to death or some other important occasions. If you were wise, and because God has told you not to eat food at funerals, you have to go home and eat very well. Before you go to an occasion, you have to first go home and eat your fill, if the people organizing the occasion do not observe the rites of holiness. Then decide that whatever food or drink that shall be presented to you that you are not going to eat or drink it, until you return home from the occasion. When you get to the occasion or place, and they ask you to eat or drink, you tell them that you are fasting. By so doing, you have not told lie before God.

The ministers of God and children of God shall not be eating or drinking anytime, anyhow and anywhere, because you do not know where they get the food or drink. It could be from the idol, idol festival or what is already dedicated to an idol by incantations. The material used in preparing the food or drink may ne defiled or the food was cooked or touched by a person who is already defiled in on way or another.

You do this to ensure separation, instead of doing things to please people, instead of doing things that make you sin against God Almighty, that make you attract the anger and wrath of God. It is better to find a way to avoid such actions or conducts.

About Rahab

Holy Caleb: The work of Rahab was cooking foods for the security men. She knew all their plans. She knew those guards who were strong, and she knew those guards who were weak. She knew all their plans, because they loved her. They were telling her their secrets. You know the way women trick men into doing something. That was how she related with the security men, and thereby knew all their plans and secrets. That was how she was able to give us ideas on what to do.

She knew about our plans and about the future destruction of the city of Jericho. Before we met her, she was receiving news and hearing of the great exploits, signs and wonders, that God was using the Israelites to perform. She wanted to join the Israelites, but she did not have the chance, opportunity. She was counting herself as unclean, defiled. She considered herself not holy to serve and worship God. And she saw ourselves, she…

Our Stay In Jericho

Holy Caleb: During our stay, we saw the good trees and we saw all the things that were happening in the city of Jericho. Ourselves stayed in the city for three months, before we returned to Joshua and the Israelites.

The Scarlet Rope

Holy Caleb: When we were about to return home, the angel of God told us what to do. We had a red rope. The red means the Blood of Jesus, salvation or war are danger. By then, we have not heard or known about the Blood of Jesus, but we were making use of the Blood of Jesus in various ways.

Now before they left the city, she came up to them, and said to the men: “I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath. Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by the Lord, since I have shown you kindness, that you also will show kindness to my father's house, and give me a true token, and spare my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death."

So the men answered her, "Our lives for yours, if none of you tell this business of ours. And it shall be, when the Lord has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you."

Then she let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was on the city wall; she dwelt on the wall. And she showed them which way to follow, to avoid the guards. Joshua 2:8-13

We gave the red rope to Rahab, and told her to tie the rope on her doorpost. She had to do so, any day that she heard that the Israelites have come to attack Jericho. By the red rope we, the Israelites, shall know her house and that she was the person who accommodated and helped the seven spies.

So the men said to her: "We will be blameless of this oath of yours which you have made us swear, unless, when we come into the land, you bind this line of scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you bring your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father's household to your own home. So it shall be that whoever goes outside the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be on his own head, and we will be guiltless. And whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head if a hand is laid on him. And if you tell this business of ours, then we will be free from your oath which you made us swear."

Then she said, "According to your words, so be it." Joshua 2:14-21

That was how we promised her that ourselves shall save her, because she wanted to worship God. She had the type of love and heart that God wants. She welcomed and treated us very well.

Departure

Holy Caleb: When we were leaving, we did not go to any mountain. But we did not leave the city through the gate. We left through a window, by a rope suspended down the wall.

The people of Jericho knew when we left. And immediately we left, the guards came to Rahab, asking her about us. She told them that she did not know anything about us. She knew the way that the guards would take, and she showed us another way which we followed. The security men looked for us, but they did not know the way we followed. The Angels protected us during our stay in Jericho.

And she sent them away, and they departed. Joshua 2:21

The pursuers sought them all along the way, but did not find them. Joshua 2:22

Report

Holy Caleb: When we reached home, we told Joshua all that we saw.

They departed and went to the mountain. So the seven men returned to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all that had befallen them. And they said to Joshua, "Truly the Lord has delivered all the land into our hands, for indeed all the inhabitants of the country are fainthearted because of us." Joshua 2:22-24
